Announcement of Early Round Direct Admission Bachelor of Engineering (International Programs) Academic Year 2020 Faculty of Engineering King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL)

Faculty of Engineering, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, invites qualified applicants to apply for admission to Bachelor of Engineering in 11 undergraduate programs for Academic Year 2020 (beginning in August 2020). This round of admission is opened to all applicants with excellent academic backgrounds. Selection of qualified candidates are based on the applicant’s academic records, standardized test scores, and English proficiency test results, along with a personal statement, letters of recommendation, on-site interview and other supplementary documents.

2. Qualifications

2.1 Educational background

The applicant must satisfy at least one of the following requirements:

  1. Graduated or studying in Grade 12 (Matthayom 6) or equivalent
  2. Graduated or studying in the final year of grade 12 or grade 13 at an accredited college or higher-education institutions in Thailand or aboard
  3. Obtained or expected to receive in qualification equivalent to Matthayom 6 as approved by the Ministry of Education before the start of Academic Year 2020.

The applicant must provide an official final transcript and their official high school diplomas and or certificates of completion from their school before the start of Academic Year 2020.

2.2 Academic Records

The applicant shouldsubmit at least one of the following standardized test results and obtain a score which meets the minimum requirement as specified below:

  1. SAT general test score of 1100 or higher
  2. ACT composite score of 23 or higher
  3. IB Diploma score of 29 or higher
  4. Cumulative GPAin high school (5 semesters) in the 75th percentile
  5. Any national higher education board exam result (such as A Level, Gaokao, GAT/PAT) that the admission committee considers equivalent to one of the above qualifications
  6. Certificate showing excellent performance from any academic activity provided by Faculty of Engineering –KMITL

Remark: The applicants for Financial Engineeringand Software Engineeringare required to meet one of these additional requirements.

    • SAT subjecttest Math Level 1 or Math Level 2 score of 600 or higher
    • ACT Math score of 23or higher
    • IB Diploma score for a subjectin Mathematics with a score of 5 or higher
    • AP test for a subject in Mathematics with a score of 4 or higher
    • A-Level or AS-Level for a subjectin Mathematics with grade B or above
    • Pat 1 Score of 90 or higher
    • Cumulative GPA of all Math subjects in high school at least 3 out of 4 (or equivalent)

2.3 English Language Requirement

Remark  :  If the applicant cannot fulfill the above requirement, he or she will be required to enroll in the additional English as a Second Language (ESL) course at KMITL before August (Additional fees apply), provided that the applicant is admitted.

4. Application Submission

The applicant must apply online and upload all necessary documents via our online application system: The applicant must deposit a 1000 baht non-refundable application fee using the specified payment methods in the application system. The applicant is responsible for any additional transaction fee incurred by financial institutions. If the applicant does not reside in Thailand, please contact our admission office to facilitate the application process.

The applicant will be notified of his/her eligibility for an on-site interview after the admissions committee reviews that application. The actual location and time of the interview will be announced prior to the interview date.

4.1 Supporting Documents

      • The applicant should prepare the following items including academic records and English Proficiency test score for online submissions and bring the original documents to the interview. A photocopy of the applicant’s national identification card or passport
      •  Personal statement – self-introduction and purposes of studying
      •  Official high school transcripts
      •  Academic Records – SAT, ACT, IB etc.
      • English Proficiency Test score – IELTS, TOEFL etc.
      • Two recommendation letters from teachers or supervisors – they either can be attached during application on the website, or they can be sealed and send via email or post by schools
      • Portfolios Achievements (optional): provide a link to your portfolios or achievements in the multimedia information section of the application. The applicant may also bring their portfolios to the interview.
      • Placement test results (optional): submit available AP, IB Higher Level, A-Level, or any grade 12 equivalent placement test results. The policy and criteria for placement credits will be determined prior to the applicant’s enrollment.

6. Scholarships

Academic Excellence Freshmen Scholarshipisoffered to applicants with excellent academic performances to pursue their undergraduate education in the international programs, the Faculty of Engineering at KMITL. The scholarship will be granted for 1styear students with exceptional academic records.Approximately 40 scholarshipscan be awarded.

Minimum Academic requirement:

  • Achieve SAT I General test composite score at least 85 world percentile
  • Achieve TOEFL score at least 550 (paper), or 213 (CBT), or 79(IBT), or Achieve IELTS score at least 6.0.
